Sonoran Roast Coffee And Tea is an Arizona-rooted premium coffee and tea company founded by leukemia survivor and unrelated-donor bone marrow transplant recipient Fred Schmitthammer. The brand combines quality coffee and tea with responsible awareness of leukemia, blood cancers, and the life-changing impact of marrow and stem-cell donors.

Fred Schmitthammer, Founder
Fred Schmitthammer was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2010 and later received an unrelated-donor bone marrow transplant at City of Hope. His donor was Pierre Kückelmann of Germany, a stranger Fred had never met.
Pierre’s decision to register as a donor helped save Fred’s life. Fred and Pierre later met in Southern California in 2014, and the donor-recipient connection became an enduring international friendship. Their reunion was documented by the Long Beach Press-Telegram.
That experience shaped the purpose behind Sonoran Roast Coffee And Tea: a company built on quality, perseverance, gratitude, hope, human connection, and responsible giving back.
